At Dade Legal Aid & Put Something Back, pro bono isn’t limited to one week of the year. Through our Put Something Back program,we encourage and provide opportunities for Miami-Dade attorneys to provide pro bono services year round. Attorneys can take cases directly from www.dadecountyprobono.org, they can participate in one of our numerous pro se bankruptcy, small claims court or consumer credit clinics and they can receive the latest training at one of our CLE training seminars. Last year, over 6000 attorneys, 200+ law firm stakeholders and local law students selflessly donated their time and talent to make “Access to the Courts a Reality.” We applaud and thank them for their passionate support of our mission to protect children, families, victims of domestic violence and other vulnerable persons in this community. The real estate meltdown. construction depression and poor local economy have created a class of “newly poor” with urgent legal needs involving such basic necessities such as housing or accessing services to provide for their children. The dedication and commitment of pro bono attorneys to “putting something back” is truly commendable and so vital to our community in these challenging economic times.
