    Important Information
We are encouraging everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, which include:

    • Staying home when you are sick and avoiding contact with persons in poor health
    • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
    • Try to refrain from hugging and handshaking; verbal greetings are suggested
    • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
    Federal Stimulus Payments to Individuals

    Reemployment Assistance (aka Unemployment Compensation)
    • Applicants do not have to wait a week to receive benefits once they file their applications.  Filing is of course a challenge due to the already lackluster website being overwhelmed with new applications
    • Recipients of RA do not have to register to look for new jobs to stay on benefits (if they filed after March 15)
    • Florida’s paltry benefits of $275 max/week will be supplemented by an extra $600/week thanks to the federal stimulus package
    • Florida’s previous maximum of 12 weeks of benefits has been extended by 13 weeks for a total of 25 weeks
    Evictions & Foreclosures
    • Thanks to the advocacy of legal aid attorneys statewide, Governor DeSantis issued a 45 day moratorium on evictions & foreclosures yesterday.  Thank you to everyone who pushed for this commonsense measure to keep people housed during the pandemic.
