Pro Bono Child Advocacy Update

Pro Bono Child Advocacy Update
3.30.20

Dear Pro Bono Attorneys and Friends,

We hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe, healthy and at home under these unprecedented circumstances. We are reaching out to thank you on behalf of Put Something Back Pro Bono Project for your time, effort, and service to our community. We know that this is a challenging time for all and hope that you are receiving court advisories for updates and implementation of new technology, such as the introduction of Zoom for court proceedings. If you are currently assigned a case as Guardian ad Litem “GAL” or Attorney ad Litem in the Family, Domestic Violence or Dependency Divisions, you may be required to participate in those proceedings remotely.

Should you need any guidance, advice or information on your Put Something Back case, please reach out to either Stephanie Grosman, Esq., Staff Attorney, Family “GAL” Mentor Sgrosman@dadelegalaid.org or Nikki S. Weisburd, Esq., Senior Attorney/Pro Bono Coordinator, “Child Advocacy Project” in partnership with the 11th Circuit GAL Nikki.Weisburd@gal.fl.gov. While staff are working remotely, we are fully operational and here for you, our pro bono attorneys, and the community. During this period of uncertainty, we encourage you to be in contact with the families and children in your pro bono cases in an effort to ensure that they are safe, healthy and protected. The following resources are available for children in school and may be useful to you: http://covid19.dadeschools.net or http://distancelearning.dadeschools.net. There are also numerous substantive trainings online for lawyers as well as additional resources for managing stress and working remotely.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and participation. Stay safe and be well.

Sincerely yours,

Karen J. Ladis. Esq.
