Executive Directors Message

We are overwhelmed by the response from pro bono attorneys and law firms during our annual pro bono recruitment campaign. To date over 200 new attorneys have signed on to accept cases and hundreds more renewed their commitment to accepting cases for indigent children, families and other underserved residents of Miami-Dade. If you have not already fulfilled your pro bono requirement for this reporting year, there’s still time to do so. 

Volunteer Attorneys– If you are interested in taking cases, staffing a clinic, or hosting a CLE at your office, please call 305-579-5733 ext. 2252 or email psb@dadelegalaid.org.  We are always in need of volunteers to handle Family, Guardian Ad Litem, Foster Youth, Human Trafficking, Probate & Guardianship, Collection, Bankruptcy Real Property and other cases. 

Arts Clinic– August 7 Legal Clinic for Creatives with Arts Business Council at WeWork Miami Beach where we offer consultations on patent, IP, contracts, licensing, freelance agreements and by-laws, incorporation. Attorneys are needed for the clinic in IP, Patent, Contract and Freelance Agreements, Incorporation and Bylaws and Entertainment Law. 

Immigration Seminars – July 10, July 12 and Sept. 21 We are hosting seminars at various firms and at Catholic Legal Services throughout the summer.  We have received an outpouring of requests to assist during this unprecedented immigration crisis and are recruiting, training and mentoring attorneys to help these children in conjunction with SCBA, CLS CABA and AIJ. Thank you to Akerman Bilzin and Greenberg for hosting firm trainings thus far.  

Bankruptcy seminar-  October – we are planning an Intro to Bankruptcy Seminar during ABA pro bono week.  Stay tuned for date and location.

Patently Impossible Project– November 1, the DCBA Intellectual Property Committee is hosting the 9th Annual Patently Impossible Project from 6-8 featuring complimentary cocktails, a silent auction and charity race to assemble an invention.  If you would like to sponsor, donate or participate please email jrv@friedlandvining.com.
