Ms. Tijerino interned at Dade Legal Aid following her first year at FIU Law in order to give back to the community. In her role as the Director of Mentoring Services for a non-profit, she developed her project management skills working with at risk youth to assist them with issues such as suicide, violence, and bullying.
“My volunteer work has solidified my desire to give back to my community. Dade Legal Aid provides the opportunity to effect change in many different areas of law. I want to be an advocate for people and help them defend themselves against the injustices that they face on an everyday basis, which drives my passion for the study of law. Dade Legal Aid provides the opportunity to do so.” Ms. Tijerino is a 2L at Florida International University College of Law.
