Brittany M. Bonner, Esquire, Family and Child Advocacy Pro Bono Coordinator, focuses on family law and cases involving children, including divorces, child custody disputes, juvenile dependency, and related matters. Ms. Bonner worked at the Miami Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Dependency Division, in private practice, and the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, having tried more than 40 criminal cases to verdict. She is actively engaged in the legal community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade Bar Association, as co-chair of its Family Courts Committee, is a board member of Kidside, and member of Inns of Court and the Florida Bar Family Law Section. She previously served as a Co-Chair of the Juvenile Courts Committee, on the Children's Courthouse Family Reunification Recognition Committee, and has been recognized as one of South Florida’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Miami Dade Bar YLS. She was recognized as a Circle of Excellence Government/Non Profit Attorney, has been a speaker on topics including Ethical Issues in the Representation of Children, Pro Bono Opportunities in Child Welfare, Case Law Updates in Dependency, Ramifications of Virtual Visitation, the Children’s Courthouse Wall of Honor Ceremony, and Family Law. Her duties include interviewing prospective family clients, screening and referring pro bono Family and Attorney ad Litem cases, organizing seminars to recruit and train pro bono family and dependency attorneys, and supporting and mentoring pro bono attorneys handling family and dependency cases. She also coordinates disaster relief efforts, staffs the law library and other communitywide clinics, and processes referrals from partnering agencies. Ms. Bonner graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She was a Dean's Merit Scholar at the University of Miami School of Law, where she received her law degree in 2008. At the University of Miami, she received recognition for her achievements in Litigation Skills and Advanced Evidence. She is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, and Georgia.
