Brittany M. Bonner focuses her practice on family law and cases involving children, including divorces, child custody disputes, other family law related matters, and juvenile dependency. Prior to joining the agency, Ms. Bonner worked in private practice, at the Miami Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Dependency Division, and at the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, having tried more than 40 criminal cases to verdict.  She is actively engaged in the legal community, serving on Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.  In addition to screening and referring cases, she currently co-chairs the Miami-Dade Bar Family Courts Committee, previously co-chaired the Juvenile Courts Committee, and the Miami-Dade County Children's Courthouse Family Reunification Recognition Committee. She has spoken at various events on Ethical Issues in the Representation of Children, Pro Bono Opportunities in Child Welfare, Case Law Updates in Dependency, Ramifications of Virtual Visitation, and the Children’s Courthouse Wall of Honor Ceremony. She helps organize and present at Dade Legal Aid seminars and events and recruits, supervises and supports pro bono attorneys, coordinates pro bono referrals from partnering agencies and advocates for the most voiceless among us in an array of proceedings. Ms. Bonner graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She was a Dean's Merit Scholar at the University of Miami School of Law, where she received her law degree in 2008. At the University of Miami, she received recognition for her achievements in Litigation Skills and Advanced Evidence. She is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, and Georgia and has been recognized as one of South Florida’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as by the Miami Dade Bar Association.
