REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible, client’s income may not exceed 125-150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. An organization may qualify for free services if its purpose is to serve eligible clients or is primarily comprised of eligible clients. Dade Legal Aid works with multiple service providers in the community to provide a safety net of services in all areas of civil law.  IF YOU QUALIFY FOR ASSITANCE YOU MAY BE REFERRED TO A PRO BONO ATTORNEY.  IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION OR REQUIRED RECEIPTS AND PROOF OF INCOME YOU MAY BE REJECTED BY THE PRO BONO ATTORNEY. The agency offers appropriate auxiliary aids and services at no cost to deaf or hard of hearing clients and companions.  All clients are asked to please bring all relevant documents, identification and proof of income with you to our office. Self Help Clinics are available to support our work:
Small Claims– Small Claims “How To” Clinics for pro se litigants seeking advice on how to proceed pro se. General overview, materials and information. No appointment necessary.  Walk ins welcome. Click here to view 2020 Small Claims Schedule.
Bankruptcy– Bankruptcy attorneys staff pro se clinics throughout the Southern District at various locations.  In Miami, the clinics are held monthly on Fridays at the U.S. Bankruptcy Courthouse from 12-1:15 pm. After watching a 45 minute video there is a ? & workshop to help pro se debtors.  No appointment necessary.  Walk ins welcome. Wills On Wheels Clinics – Pro Bono attorneys travel to various location to provide needy residents information about probate and the effects of dying without a will.  Upon request, qualifying clients will receive a will and related documents. We work closely with a network of organizations including South Miami Kendall Bar Association, the Probate & Guardianship Committee of the Dade County Bar Association and the Miami VA to provide these services.
Immigration–  In partnership with the DCBA Immigration Law Committee, Catholic Legal Services, AIJ, voluntary bars and local law firms, pro bono attorneys staff clinics, take cases and appear in immigration proceedings on behalf of children and/or others who are in legal limbo. Artists, Non Profit & Starts Up Clinics– Mix meet and mingle with emerging artists, creative collaborations and start ups at launchpads and other locations featuring workshops on diverse topics designed to aid those in need of  free business tune ups without means to hire counsel.
